#1stlineFriday, so how about the first line of a new part in the story I'm writing about Desdemona? For those that don't know yet, Desdemona is the villain of my Obsidian Embers Trilogy. "Desdemona hesitated at the head of the stairs, squinting into the red-lit passage below." #amwriting #writing #amwritingfantasy #fantasy #fantasybooks #ObsidianEmbers

So this thing is going around where you add "And then the murders began" as the second sentence of any #book. So I'll do mine since it looks interesting. Kindling: “All right, filth, in you go.” And then the murders began. (Ha! Well, I mean, this pretty much sums up the story.) Waxing: Zahir pulled his cloak up around his face to protect himself from the stinging wind. And then the murders began. (Also extremely accurate with what happens in the next few chapters.) Devouring: Marietta paced the floor, white eyes darting first to Absalom and then to the door, the window, anything to keep herself from looking at him. And then the murders began. (Well, anyone who knows Mari knows that when she's agitated, people do tend to die...) #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #fantasy #fantasybooks #books #ObsidianEmbers

After a short break in my edits so I could get sick, I've started in on chapter 14 of Waxing. Here's my favorite line from my editing so far today. ~ “So,” she said with a sigh, pulling back just enough to look up into his black eyes, “murder, mutilation, and crying women. What a way to start the day.” She nestled her head back against his shoulder and sniffled. “Just like being home.” ~ #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #writing

You were all fantastic at the sad story prompt! I'm thoroughly miserable now. ;) I expect you all to cheer me up. ;) I'll have to find more of these things for you all to do. I love seeing your responses.

My favorite bit of #editing on chapter 11 of Waxing, book two of the Obsidian Embers Trilogy. I love these side characters more than I probably should. * Just as Zenovia started to rise, the soldier noisily walked back into camp. Zenovia ducked again, cursing softly as Quiz suppressed a laugh behind his long-fingered hand. The soldier briefly fixed his brown-eyed gaze on them, and Zenovia’s stomach dropped. Without any indication that he had seen them, he turned and ducked inside the small tent sitting a ways from the fire. Quiz leaned over to her and whispered, “You know this is crazy? He could kill you.” “Maybe he’s a scout?” “Still could kill you.” He smirked at her, almost triumphant that her plan was failing. With a sneer, Zenovia gestured to the clearing. “Kill him first.” “What?” His brows shot up at the words. “You’ve told me how you killed that one man.” With a satisfied smile, she said, “Kill this one.” “That was different!” “How?” “Self-defense. And he wasn’t expecting it.” “He’s not expecting it,” she retorted, jerking her head toward the tent. * #amwriting #writing #amwritingfantasy #fantasy #books #ObsidianEmbers
